Ryan Seacrest’s Home: A Serious $37 Million Purchase from Funny-Woman Ellen Degeneres:Ryan Seacrest just keeps buying stuff. Television pilots, gifts for his main squeeze Julianne Hough, and property – lots of it. The man who would be Dick Clark has a knack for buying high-priced homes, and it seemed like he would slow down after the purchase and massive renovation of his $12 million mansion in 2006. Such is not the case, however. The radio star turned highly successful presenter/host, has recently secured multiple multi-million dollar hosting gigs, including additional seasons of “American Idol”, and hosting work for the 2012 Olympics. In other words, he’s rather “rolling in dough”, and he can afford to “trade up”, as it were. His upward movement includes the purchase of the former home of Ellen Degeneres and Portia Rossi. Many, many people are familiar with the property already, as Ms. Degeneres often showcased parts of it on her popular talk show. Mr. Seacrest reportedly purchased the 9,200 square foot property for $37 million. This is a considerable reduction from Ms. Degeneres’ original asking price of $60 million, but the price tag has been dropping steadily since she put it on the market one year ago. The entire compound is actually four properties that Ms. Degeneres bought bit by bit over the course of the last five years. Mr. Seacrest’s new home is made up of a main house, originally designed by famed architects Buff and Hensman, two guesthouses, a three-bedroom house separate from the main house, a swimming pool, a pond, lots of trees, and a lot of grass. It is tucked away on its own side street, so Seacrest and his lady-love will have a bit more privacy than before. He has listed his former mansion for $11.985 million, so if anyone out there has $12 million to spare, there’s a house in the Hollywood Hills with your name on it.
